16 Days of Activism for Women’s Rights

Amnesty International is promoting 16 Days of Activism from November 25th to December 10th, Elimination of Violence Against Women Day to Human Rights Day. Watch this video to learn more about how you can make a difference each day and support justice and freedom for women all over the world.

Amal Basha is one woman who is making a difference as the head of the Sisters Arab Forum for Human Rights, based in Yemen. Hers is a very inspiring story that shows how difficult the struggle can be depending on what part of the world you are in.

I will continue to feature various leaders working for women’s rights for the next two weeks and hope that will spotlight how supporting women is vital in attacking the rest of the world’s ills like hunger, poverty, political corruption etc. There are so many ways to get involved and raise awareness, despite how hopeless the situation might look.

One way you can help is by reading and signing my petition at Change.org, Tell Congress to Make Ending Gender-Based Violence a Foreign Aid Priority, which supports sponsoring the International Violence Against Women Act, an important piece of legislation that addresses the horrors women suffer and endure with no mercy.
